Pics from last evening that I couldn't post earlier.

I have to open with some sad news. Art Grimes, a long time resident of Little Tomiko, passed away yesterday.

Can't post pics today, Blogger troubles again. And, a thunder storm is coming, Bye.

You can hardly tell the baby mergansers from their mom now.

Yesterday afternoon turned out pretty nice, though some people with low iron in their blood found it a little too cool.

The man in the moon.

I picked a few more blueberries this morning. I can't pick a whole lot at one time because of my bad back. I seem to remember that somebody said that they would make me a blueberry rake. You know who I'm talking about, don't you Pickerel Queen? How about getting him on that for next season.

Since today is a nice day, and it's, let me look it up, yup - Sunday, I'm just going cruising on the lake and relax.

Here is a pic from Bryan of me getting my ear candled. You'll notice that they had to chain me, and Kita is a little concerned. Those Brits have a strange sense of humour.

Ok Joseph, another bird identification. Cormorant?

It was hot and muggy yesterday afternoon. Kita and I went for a spin around the lake to cool off. This little bear was hot too, and drinking water in the narrows.

The sky kept changing last evening.

Friday, July 28, 2006

Last evening the sky cleared up.

I noticed this bat flying over Kita while he slept on the dock. Not a great picture cause he was flitting around.

Then he came in for a portrait.

Then he spread his wings for us. Later he took off and came back. Kita was awake by this time and the bat hovered about a foot in front of his nose. I wasn't ready for that shot.

This morning I picked blueberries in my front yard. I guess now I have to learn how to bake them. Speaking of baking, I've been feeling a little slow lately. I think my blood sugar is getting low cause I haven't had any brownies or fudge for awhile. (nudge, nudge, wink, wink!!??)

Lots of rain yesterday, 3.5cm by my weather station.

Kathleen sure has the cooking gene. BBQ pork chops, stuffed chukar breast, garlic bread, rice and broccoli with cheese sauce. Yummy.

I met this little guy on the road to the dump this morning.

While I was in town I bumped into four guys from the place that used to pay me. They were making puppies as usual. Then later on, I saw two more guys in Big Blue trying to get back to work in time for lunch. The more things change, etc, etc.

I went over to the Kelly's and helped get the some trusses up. There are just a couple of little ones left.

Last evening.

The rain put a damper on raising trusses today.

So a quiet day, I just cleaned up another 20 pounds of dog hair. Tomorrow I have to go to town again.

Some road pics from yesterday.

The storm missed us last evening.

Fog again this morning.

Putting the main roof beam in Dan and Kathleen's new shack.

Man, oh man it was hot today. My weather station recorded 30.9 degrees. I think that what ever brain cells I have left are baked. Or is that half baked? We didn't get the trusses up today. I'll go back tomorrow and tell them the wrong way on how to do it. But that Kim guy is pretty sharp, he just might figure an easy way to get them up and spoil all the fun.

I might not post tomorrow, Kat is going to feed me supper and I'm not sure how that's going to work out.

Monday, July 24, 2006

Yesterday was a gorgeous day. The only thing that would have made it any better would be a few feet of snow.

An old weather guy once told me that the technical term for these clouds is BFO's. Big, fluffy ones.

Blogger troubles again, can't post any more pictures.

It sure is quiet out here now that all the drone bees have gone back to work.

This morning I went out and cleared some widow makers off of my road. One almost got me, but it's amazing how fast an old guy can move when he has to.

I checked on the Kellys this afternoon. They have just one external wall to put up. Tomorrow morning I'll give them a hand hoisting the roof trusses up.

They just announced on the radio that we are under another severe thunder storm warning. I better go and batten down the hatches.

Sunday, July 23, 2006

I spent a nice afternoon with Jose, Ed and Bryan. I even got an ear candled. I have tinnitus and the candle sure helped. I think I'll have to make this a regular thing.

Jose and Ed's shack on the lake.

Jose has the record for humming birds on the lake. The little buggers are hard to shoot.

Last evening Rich, Leanne, Joanne, and Tyler dropped by for a while with Bear the golden doodle. George thought Bear looked tasty.

This morning.

I think I'll mow the Devil's weed (AGAIN!)this morning cause they're calling for rain for the next couple of days. At least the rain will make going back to work easier for those who were on vacation this past week. Chuckle, ckuckle.

Installing the last culvert.

I guess privacy is important to some. Here's half a dutch door on the loo.

Baby mergansers are all grown up now.

I went to Maxie park last evening for a camp fire. I didn't take my camera so everybody could act "normal" and uninhibited.

Jack and Linda got me some gas for the generator, so today is laundry day.

Friday, July 21, 2006

Yesterday, Razor, Tina and I spent the day at Rich and Leanne's clearing trees off of their road. Today we will get two culverts in.

It was a hot muggy day and Bear, Leanne's dog, would lay down in mud puddles to cool off.

Going through the narrows at six o'clock.

About seven o'clock a thunder storm came in.

After the storm.
