It's been a while. I've been posting updates on Facebook lately. I find it a lot easier, and faster working with the tablet. For this blog I have to unload cameras to the laptop, go thru all of the pictures and resize them 'cause google wants money from me to post full size pictures, save them to a different folder and then, finally upload. Typically I spend any where from one to two hours per blog. So, I'm thinking about only posting on Facebook. Let me know in the comments how you feel about this.

A couple of weeks ago we met 2 curb jumping AWD SUVs on the Brule road. They didn't think that they were ruining the roads for other people's use, and they didn't care if they did. We had to drive thru puddles that they broke the ice on. As you can see the suspension and idler wheels were frozen solid in muck. It took a whole afternoon to defrost with a propane heater and chip away the ice.

We have had so little sun this year, especially this fall that I can't help taking pictures of it.

First tentative steps on the ice on the 11th.

Sun up.

Sun down.

Breakfast.

First walk along the shore line.

Frost on the lake.

Marked the water pump on the 16th.

On the 17th we walked to Bedrock.

The pointy end.

Lookin' thru the narrows.

Bill's point.

We put in the tree line on the 18th.

This herc circled me a bunch of times.

We went to town to see grandsons Floyd and

Nova's school Christmas concerts.

So, let me know if you would like getting teased a little bit every day on Facebook or wait and get a bigger load, once in a while.

OK, so some ignorant moron is still driving up and down the unplowed part of the Notman road making frozen ruts in every direction. We don't groom trails so that you can destroy them. Now, you can't teach stupid, but you can learn manners. Yo Momma didn't wack you hard enough with that wooden spoon.

Rant over. These pics are from a morning walk way back on the 25th of Nov.

Wolf tracks on the bypass.

A bazillion yellow birch seeds blown out by all of the wind.

 Running wolf tracks.

Running deer tracks.

That's a big guy.

He took time to do a big poo. When ya gotta go, ya gotta go.

Dinner @ Franko's Pizzeria. Hers.

His.

One morning I heard what almost sounded like a deer walking thru the woods. Ended up just a squirrel throwing down yellow birch seed pods. Video

Nov 29

We have a grouse coming to the feeder. It must be one of Mrs. Henny Penny's 'cause it comes right up to be fed.

We had a skim of ice almost right across.

We groomed a nice trail all the way to the A5.

Pretty, right?

 1 Dec.

Messy seed pods thrown down by a squirrel.

But, he does rake them up into piles.

Out of focus, but you get the idea.

The woodpeckers have this tree almost girded.

Do you see the ermine? Me neither.

There he is.

Dec 2

Ice in the A.M.

At the end of what we now call the Don Fraser bypass, Gibson's mill used to have a trailer for their men. When I got here in 1990, there was a picnic table there. This is all that is left of that table.

Over the years several items rose out of the ground. Stubby beer bottles etc. The latest is a tomato sauce can.

The tree line is ready to go.

Ice in the P.M.

 Dec 5

Eagle on the ice. Ice breaking up.

Shows how close it was.

I took this video back on the 24th, but forgot to post. Blurry and shaky on max zoom. Video

I finally saved up enough pennies to buy a new solar regulator. I got the parts from Kris @ gooffthegrid.ca/

And hooked up these panels, (temporary location?) that I have had for a while now but couldn't hook them up to my old regulator. I can now generate more than double of what I had before, if we ever see the sun.

The batteries, weigh in at 271 pounds (X's 4) each.

Dec 6

No ice after torrential rain and wind.

Downed trees on the trail to the bypass.

We actually got a couple hours of sun to test the new system. AWESOME!! But no sun since. This has been the worst solar year, ever.

 Dec 7

Making ice, again

Checking on the neighbours on my morning walk about. Bunny.

Squirrel

Bush chicken

Chicken sh*t

Citiot tracks.

Widow maker fell on the road to Riches. We cleaned it up.

Snow squalls, right now.
