Last evening we had a small pot luck at "Tina's" Lube and Grill. The place is so clean that you can eat off of a welder. No pics of people eating, 'cause I was too busy eating. The chicken leg burners were greatly missed.

Part of the Szymanski family that were able to come up this year.

I don't know who the guy sitting down is. He just followed his nose out of the bush.

Trailer park trash. They always show up for free food.

No pics of the Hostess, she managed to disappear when the camera came out.

George, making sure that he gets his share of the beer. "Darn, they're not twist caps. Where did I put that church key?"

The Whiskey Jacks are back already!

The Provincial Tax Grab, I mean, Land Tax Reform meeting was held this morning. An over flow crowd showed up, but, I think that we could/should have had even more citizens show up.

At the end of the presentation there was a question and answer session, but, as usual, a lot of the answers were of the "I don't know" variety. The new tax rate will be, for this area, .0004 times what ever value that MPAC assesses your property. This all comes with a new "reformed" assessment appeal process that wasn't explained all that well. Of course there will be no increase in services provided.

Michelle and Kurt, sorry that I got it wrong, time seems to go by faster when you get old.

Happy anniversary Michelle and Kurt!

#9 I think (sometimers, you know)

Saturday evening.

Nice paint job Lee. Sorry for the picture, that's the best I could do at 30mph. I'll get a better pic the next time I make land fall in that area.

So, what's the news?

Elvis has left the lake. (Elvis, I bet you heard that one more than once)

Only one day of very scattered showers since the last post. Nice and sunny but a little cool for some folks. You can feel autumn in the air and some trees a turning colours already.

In the International pool championship, the Chester's Jesters team soundly defeated the Kelly's Heroes. I believe I heard "Kelly's Zeroes" shouted from a big blue boat as it pulled away from the dock. In the guys versus gals game, the guys LET the girls win, 'cause we are smart.

Don't forget the tax meeting on Thursday at the Tilden Lake Community Center, and you might as well bring your own Vaseline.

Happy Birthday Super Ellia!

Five years old and a real Cutie,

and you like nice trucks.

sjc, yes, Anne fixed the George drapes or we wouldn't have let her leave.

Speaking of Anne, we took her to the airport tooooo early this morning. Thanks for coming Anne, and thanks for leaving.

Sun set last night.

The Sand Dam road is finally repaired and open to traffic. This does not mean that you can drive with the pedal to the metal.

There will be a public meeting at the Tilden Lake Community Center on August 28 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The purpose of this meeting is to explain the new taxation system for unorganized townships. Or, in other words, how they are going to "put it" to us, without the benefit of Vaseline.

Grasshopper's sister Anne is visiting and I can't get a word in

Update on the Sand Dam road. No change yet. Apparently the logging company and the MNR are having a urinating contest over who will pay for the repair.

Two more days with out rain! Yesterday the thunderstorms missed us. They got it pretty good in Sudbury with pea sized hail.

9C again this morning.

If you look really, really close, you might see the young loon snorkeling while fishing.

No new updates on the Sanddam road.

Two days with out rain! YIPPEE!

The Sand Dam road is still not repaired. It is passable with caution. If Mr. Soprano and his "family" can go over the temporary repair, then I guess that most people can. The latest report is that it might be repaired on Thursday.

+9c this morning. That'll warm your cockles!

Sand Dam update.

The Sand Dam road has a temporary repair at Ben's Pond. Slow down and use caution. Ontera is on the job, so the phones should be back this afternoon???

Thursday, August 07, 2008

Rainbow this morning at 6:30 and it wasn't even raining.

The Sand Dam road washed out at Ben's Pond during those storms and is not repaired yet. I'll let you know when it is open.

A rainbow in between storms yesterday.

We had some really bad storms yesterday. So far this week there have been two solar inverters and one generator killed by lightening. The Fowlers, Shaws and Frasers are not ignoring you, they also lost their phones.

It's still rainy and stormy.

Storm clouds over Bedrock on Thursday.

We have a loon family visiting our shore. The baby is now too big to ride on Mamma's back.

We had a big storm on Saturday evening, dumping an inch of rain, almost sinking some boats tied up at the Frasertown marina. The weather has been too bad to do much visiting lately. Yesterday was a nice day, except when it rained. In between showers we had a nice visit with Frank, Joan and Cathy. Nothing else to report for now.
