Happy 9th Birthday

Hippy Chick Calliope!

I know that it has been awhile, so grab a coffee and settle in for a bit.

A rose breasted grosbeak taken through the window screen. These birds a very shy.

You might want to blow this one up to see a red wing black bird.

Some of Grasshopper's flowers.

We are not sure if this male evening grosbeak fell to George or not. George normally follows the credo of "eat what you kill".

This indigo bunting stopped by for only one day.

Fishing Loon.

Jennesa treated us to a steak dinner at the Fowler estate on the 22nd. L to R, me, Sir Edwin, Dame Josephine, Jazzlyn, and Bryan.

This sunset shot by Grasshopper has a surreal quality to it.

We found this female evening grosbeak with a broken right wing. We kept her in a basket for a few days but let her go to let nature take it's course. After five days, she is still on the go, coming to the feeder a couple times a day. She hops up branches to reach the feeder.

White trillium.

Blueberry blossoms.

Different colour blueberry blossoms.

One of our Whiskey Jacks has had three babies. Even though they can fly some, Momma normally keeps them back in the bushes.

I guess that since we can now identify six or seven types of birds, we are officially "birders". So, we should call the young ones "immature" specimens.

A mature female Whiskey Jack with one of her immature offspring.

FEED ME!!!! Even though they can fly, they seem to be unable to feed themselves.

Lady slipper.

More of Grasshopper's flowers.

The black flies and mosquitoes are at their worst now, I hope. Over the last couple of days, God luv 'em, the bats and dragon flies have returned. Hey Tim, where do you get the Watkin's stuff? I guess we are "SOL" if it is only door to door.

well a fella moved here from manitoba and he raved about the stuff, and harrassed the local stores to get it in, they did and can't keep it on the shelves. when we are out with friends and whatnot, if someone needs bug dope we give them some OFF; we keep the watkin's for ourselves! try Lee Valley maybe online?
