It cleared up just before dark last evening.

Strange colour in the sun rise this am.

And a rainbow in the west.

I went to Frasertown today and helped Trailerpark Dan, Chris and Razor drink beer, I mean put a new roof on the shower house. I didn't think it merited a pic. Tomorrow we are moving Shirley. No, she's not moving here. We still haven't negotiated the cat puke thing.

Late this morning the sun came out so I decided to go bird hunting. Before I was ready to go, it rained, then the sun came out, so Kita and I went. Then it rained, then it was sunny, then it rained, etc all day.

Can you find my drive way?

This is a pretty big bole. Kinda looks like a big butt. Almost as big as TT's........bole.

Almost out to the end of my drive way we found this big old dead yellow birch across the trail. No rest for the wicked, am I really that bad? So walk back to the cabin and get the truck and chain saw.

The day wasn't a total waste, we did get 2 grouse. Sorry Tina, but they are yummy.

This is about as bright as it got today. Hey, the weather! Another .3 inches of rain the past 24 hours.

Yesterday afternoon I went into the lake to bury the water line in the sand. (Yeah, I know, August would have been better). I got a little damp and chilled so I had a small fire. Kita kept me awake all night panting and whining that it was too hot. This cabin is so well insulated that all you really need this time of year is a good burp from the other end.

I was reading the newspaper the other day and the reporter said that someone was picking the lock on his garage and going in and making a mess. I have to report that I have the same problem. It took me 4 hours to clean up his mess today.

While some people were sleeping away their day off, I was watching the sun rise at 7 am. You never know when it might be the last one.

They are having a search and rescue competition at North Bay and this Hercules circled the lake a couple of times. The pilot probably heard about my buns. See what happens when you let women fly?

When this plane flew over, I thought that it was a yellow SAR Buffalo, but now I'm not so sure.

It's raining again. If all this rain was snow, we would be sledding over the tree tops by now.

About 4:45 yesterday looking east.

At the same time looking west. Then we had a nice little thunder storm with another .4 inches of rain.

After the storm.

Today was a nice day, my batteries really needed the sun.

A picture from Brian, the raccoons are cleaning up after the birthday party.

Monday, September 25, 2006

I helped Razor clear a culvert that a beaver had plugged up and was flooding the Sand Dam road yesterday afternoon. The sky cleared as I headed home around 7 pm.

The sky was clear this morning at 7 am.

I managed to put some tin on the roof of the propane shelter and found enough vinyl siding to put on the shelter, BUT, before I had a chance to install it, it rained again and the wind blew at 25 kph. Right now there is a big blue hole in the sky over the lake, but great big black clouds are moving in from the west. With the 3 plus inches of rain that we had this week, the lake is full to spring levels. Last evening I met someone fishing in the narrows who thought the water was too high. It'll go down by itself, if you leave it alone.

We all had a good time at Sharon's birthyday party.

No, Oscar wasn't the entree.

Lots and lots of good food.

Brian had it all prepared for rain, but it held off till after the party.

But, of course it poured down as I was crossing the lake. Good thing I had the old oil skins in the boat. We got 2 inches of rain since last night and I had to pump out the boat twice today.

A small hole in the clouds last evening.

This afternoon.

I better wear my so'wester when I go to the birthday party this evening so my buns don't get wet.

"They" are calling for rain for the next 6 days. What's the odds of them being wrong this time? It has rained every day and Kita and I haven't had a chance to go hunting for bush chickens yet. Speaking of hunting, some yahoo on a 4 wheeler turned around at my gate yesterday. He had to pass some "private lane" and "beware of cat", I mean dog signs, yet he came as far as the gate. Luckily, the deaf dog didn't hear him, or he might have followed him home. Kita likes to chase snow machines and 4 wheelers. I guess it's time to put orange tape on Kita's collar so some dim wit doesn't shoot him.

It cleared up last evening.

Still clear at 7 am.

Then it clouded over, but no rain yet. "They" say that there's a chance of a thunder storm tonight. I finished off the propane tank shelter, except for the tin roof, and hooked up the four tanks. I only had 2 tanks hooked up to the regulator before which meant that I had to move tanks around about every 5 weeks.

I'm going to a birthday party tomorrow, so I gotta make more rolls tonight. Kita will like that. He's such a people person. We haven't left the property since last Sunday and I think he is getting bored with me.

7:30 last evening.

2:30 this afternoon. Not much change.

Today was supposed to be pretty nice, and it did start that way. Then it rained again. I did manage to finish the propane tank shelter. All I need is to find a couple pieces of tin roofing. If it doesn't rain tomorrow, I'll move it next to the house. "They" are calling for rain forever. How come "they" are only wrong with their forcast when "they" call for sun?

Yesterday afternoon.

Last evening.

Mushrooms are popping up all over. Crikey, that's a big one mate!

Lots and lots of geese flew south today.

Today was a weird one weather wise. Sun showers and drizzle all day long. Last winter I had a problem where my propane tanks got frozen in from the snow and freezing rain. It was a little hard on the nerves using an axe to free the tanks. So today I started building a shelter for the tanks.

Up hill both ways Cathy.

It's a dull, grey, wet, windy day. Perfect for resting the liver. So that's all folks.

P.S. Cathy, it's about 45 minutes to the "pop" shop.

Monday, September 18, 2006

I know that it's been a while since I've posted. If any one with "O" neg blood has a spare piece of liver that they are not using, I'll take it. Also, not too many pictures because it's hard to focus the camera through the bottom of a silly pop.

I had a great visit with cousins Don and Gord and Don's son Lance. First I have to say that no fish were harmed on this adventure. A couple of small ones, but no keepers. Don is coming back in the spring with a couple of "Dupont" lures.

Gibson's road.

You would think that a couple of half Newfs could pull up a fish or two. Maybe they were jigging for squids.

The boys got to enjoy a Tomiko sunset.

Don slept out on the deck both nights.

I would also like to say sorry to all the little boys and girls out there. That "jingle jingle" you heard wasn't Santa Claus, it was just a Chevy Tracker heading down hwy 11 full of empties.

View from the deck last evening.

This morning we had a fog that would make some one from the "Passage" or the "Gut" proud.

Same view an hour later.

The house is all cleaned up, not my most favorite job. I should start trading my labour for house cleaning services. So Little Tomiko, look out, cousins Don and Gord arrive tomorrow and Aunt Bessie won't be here to keep an eye on us. I think the weather forecast is for it to get "tired" out side!
