We went to THE Estate to help with a little shoveling. We were not the only nut bars to sled on the lake.

Mrs. Slate come over the other day to help Tom, I mean Grasshopper stack wood. She is too fast to shoot.

As you can see, the road to Rich's is paved with snow.

Some of you know about Tomiko Tommy, the lake monster who lives in front of our house. Did you know that we also have a Yeti?  Here are the tracks of the inevitable Snowman.  My old boss, the Cod Father, would have loved that one.

This was last evening after a 1/2 inch of rain.

Hey!, I just saw the first goose of the year. Must be on a recon mission because he was alone, and actually flying south. Gulls took off, from the ice when I took Grasshopper across the lake this morning. How much ice do we have? I'm glad you asked because I drilled a hole this morning. We have 19 inches, enough for a truck.

How much wood, could a Grasshopper stack, if a Grasshopper could stack wood?

Last weekend Bonehead and Big Luke came for a stag weekend and their last sledding of the season.

They found Razor's trail to Diver. This is an old loading ramp on the tracks.

And they found a moose shed.

 

They were coming for happy hour and supper, so I made some hamburger and hot dog buns.

On Sunday we went to the Estate for Easter dinner. Jose had turkey and fixin's and lamb on the menu. In attendance were Sir Edwin, Grasshopper, Bryan, Jose, TT, and North Bay's newest TV star, Jalapeño, along with her co-star, Dill.

Of course Maggie and Bess were not too far away.

 Grasshopper made a chocolate cake and I made hot cross buns.

Don't panic, spring is on it's way. So far we have seen chipmunks, squirrels, a raccoon, a junco and it seems that the whiskey jacks are on the nest. So, just have some patience.

 It's snowing today, no joke! But it is REALLY FUNNY! But I am sensing that some of you will not agree with me.

 Jose, remember last week when I told you the snow was done? I was wo, wo, wong. I was in r, r, ror. Let's just say that I misspoke, and we'll go with that, K? 

OOPS!

 

It's time for another public service announcement. This will probably be the last weekend to go sledding. Be careful out there. Know your water ways. Steer clear of inlets, outlets and swamps. Remember to tell someone where you are going and when you expect to be back. Don't forget your ice picks and a floater suit is a good idea, too. If you are not sure, don't go. This is what Razor found a couple of mornings ago in a swamp heading into Bear Lake.

Some one asked if I had a gas splitter. I do, see?

Or, maybe you can't. It's still under a couple feet of snow.

I enjoy splitting wood by hand. Who needs a splitter, any way?
