Sorry for the lack of updates, but not much is going on. Just keeping our heads down and fighting black flies and mosquitoes. And counting down to the first day of frost.

The crazy woodpeckers are still whacking their heads on the ground.

We are not sure who this is. We thought it might be a lady rose breasted grosbeak, but the beak is wrong, and it's too big for a lady purple finch.

Mr. rose breasted grosbeak. We normally only see them for a day or two on their way thru, but this guy has been here for a couple of weeks. Maybe they will stay and mate.

These two, an American gold finch and a purple finch have become quite chummy.

We think that this is a lady rose breasted, but she is very, very shy.

The night shift going home in the am.

Just another rain bow in the center of the universe.

Looks like the pot of gold is at the Syz's.

George takes a break from reading his book.

Looks like it's a horror story to me.

Mr. rose breasted sings his heart out. He starts at 4:35 EVERY morning.

Pine siskins scrapping at the feeder.

We haven't seen Mrs. Penny for a few weeks now, but this grouse has been coming every day this week.

A day late and $5.00 short, but here goes.

Happy Birthday Mrs. Smith!

Happy Birthday Mary-Lewd! .  (inappropriate old age jokes) .

You are right, again, Dr. Brown. Taking another look I can see the female hooded merganser in this first pic.

and the more pointed beak in this pic.

Stock pic, the bufflehead has more of a mallard type beak.

Last Sunday we celebrated Mother's Day at the Estate.

Here's a new one for you. She is Bryan's friend, Dorothy. I don't know what I did, but she knows I did it. Also in attendance were , Mork and Mindy, the AKA Smiths, Bryan, Grasshopper, Tina, Jose and Jahzara. OH! And young Corey came to see how old people had fun.

La table. On the menu was roast chicken, sausages, kabobs, corn on the knob, onion rings and salad stuff. Oh, and anatomically correct Frank's buns.

Maggie guarding the sausages.

The ravage begins.

Don't you love the look you get when you catch somebody with their mouth full?

After dessert we had a nice talk about the history of Little Tomiko. Somebody has to write this stuff down.

A sunset for all you Mothers.

Flat as a mirror Tuesday morning.

A blurry pic of a bufflehead duck.

There were two of them.

Yesterday afternoon I was, "looking out my back door" (get it?). when I saw this big fella pounding his head on the ground.

He tore up the driveway.

A sock foot for comparison.

A pine grosbeak I think, way up high.

Last evening, while having supper, this guy came by for the first time this year. He was nervous, but he'll get used to us for a better selfie.

We finally got some rain last evening. We really needed it as the bush is really dry. There have been a few brush fires in the North Bay area already. A foggy morning this morning.

Maybe I need a career change?
