So, yesterday we walked across the lake to Bedrock. I chopped about 25 holes on the way. The minimum thickness was 6 inches with the average about 8 inches. Since "they" were calling for rain over night and today we decided not to put in the tree line yet. I did put in one tree at each end to have something to aim at with the Ski-Doo-Bee-Doo. It's impossible to make a straight line
Lookin' thru the narrows towards the round end.
Lookin' past Bill's point to the pointy end.
It is a little slushy at the Bedrock shore, like it always is.
It's almost exactly 1 km across.
There's still frost in them thar hills.
Our end this morning.
There are lots of different patterns in the ice this year.
Where ever I chopped a hole, water came up and made a little slush.
Remember, just because I say this route is safe doesn't mean the whole lake, or any other lake is safe. I would stay away from swamps for awhile yet. You have to do your own due diligence. Be safe out there and carry your ice picks.
