Whoa, I just finished the post. It's a big one. Ya better get yer "Big Bubba" mug.
Wednesday I was invited to a BYOPan fish fry @ Bedrock.
What could be better than bacon wrapped fish?
Spuds and the bacon wrapped fish.
Chef Dennis did a great job.
Man can't live on KFC alone. Yummy.
Low, thick clouds on the way home,
Lit up the far shore line.
On Thursday, Don, Colette, and I decided to clean out three plugged culverts on the Notman road between the A5 road and the Brule Lake road. Planning Plan "A".
I tried straddling the culvert but that didn't work.
I tried poking and pulling in the water. That didn't work.
I crawled up inside the culvert, but the last time the loggers cleaned the culvert they tore a hole in the culvert and water was leaking on my head right at the plug. I did manage to get a little day light, though. For some reason photo-girl Colette didn't follow me in.
We decided to let that first one drain and moved on to the second plug, just before the small gravel pit.
I just noticed who's always in the water.
I managed to poke a pretty good hole so we tried dragging an anchor thru. It didn't work the first time. The second time we used three anchors I think and cleaned it right out.
Water came over the top of the waders.
Culvert #3. Hey who's that in the water, again?
Don, working on the bottom end, or the dry end as I like to call it.
She's starting to go.
There she goes!
After all of that I was tired and sore and cold. We put off culvert #1 until Friday.
Heading down to the AKA's that evening.
Friday morning. Jon drove his ATV out to supervise us. Over night the beavers had plugged up what I had cleaned and built more dam on the road.
Weapons of choice.
We plugged up the leak in the culvert and I crawled up in side and loosened the plug until I got nervous. Don't worry, I had a safety belt and rope. I then poked around this end until Colette yelled get out of there Frank! It started off like a toilet then whoosh!
That's a lot of water. Luckily there is no road down stream, just another big swamp before it gets to another lake.
After a hot, sanitizing shower, I went to Bedrock and helped Freddie install new lightening arresters on their solar system. Inverter side, one arrester does two inverters.
These new arresters have many advantages over the old type. They act faster and also tell you when they will no longer work and they are repairable. With the old type, you never knew when they were toast. They are about $209 and we now have a local supplier. Solar guy. Call me if you are interested, I'll let you know what types you need and how many. Solar charger side, one arrester per charger.
After that it was off to the AKA's for a steak dinner.
Remember, you don't know this guy, and you never saw him.
Going home.
Same with culvert cleaners, phew!
Har, har.
