Grasshopper decided to make one more quick run to town today. There is still a good foot of ice left, but she will have to come back early because the ice gets really "sloggy"(yeah, I invented a new, more descriptive word)  in the afternoon sun. I'll go across the lake and drag the sleigh back home for her.

Mrs. Slate and dogs go out to meet Grasshopper.

Monday morning ice fog.

Big Luke drove his sled over, and broke the buoy that marks the water pump. I wasn't about to tell the big guy to fix it, so yesterday I pulled it through the ice and fixed it.

The hole froze over. We'll see how long it takes the block to fall through.

Refrozen sloggy ice.

Frozen raccoon tracks. This guy is getting into garbage and generally causing havoc, but he is not man enough to stand up to George.

Frank's Fat Farm shut down for another year.

Snow in the forecast for the weekend. We could use a little cold to slow down the melt. There is a ton of water and snow left in the bush. I drove the quad out to the Notman road the other day and got stuck 4 times on the way back. There is still 2 feet of snow in some places with water running underneath. The snow bridge would break and one time I had to winch out of the hole.

So spring is here, and so are the robins. No more sleeping in past 5:30 anymore. Grrrrrr.

There was a train derailment north of the Sand Dam Road and they are using the road to haul in fill, so the road is in pretty bad shape. Apparently impassable to Subaru's and even hard with 4X4 pickups. Maybe someone could take some pics and post them on her facebook page and I'll copy them to this blog?
