First of all Happy 9Th anniversary (yesterday) Kurt and Michelle. Old timers/sometimers, I guess.

One of the few nice mornings lately.

The day after Big Bill brushed the Least Coast, we had our own Mini Bill.

Last evening Tom, Mary Ann, Mary Jo, and Jersey Szymanski dropped by all the way from Gowanda NY. They brought corn on the cob and our favorite American mustard. Thanks guys! Bread on it's way this evening after supper.

The end of a beautiful day.

Happy 6th

Birthday

Super Ellia!

An early sign of fall? The Whiskey Jacks are back looking for breakfast.

We found a dead bird, a Magnolia Warbler we think, and offered it to one of our snakes. Before you could say, "holy crap wheres my camera?" it started to swallow the bird and drag it under the cabin.

The Humming Birds kept on feeding while Grasshopper painted the screens on the deck. That's her hat in the bottom of the pic. Another sign of fall? The Humming Birds have been VERY active and we have more than 10 now, but no males.

More dock bass. There is nothing more fun than catching Smallies with top water baits, as Super fisher girl Calliope will tell you.

How do you celebrate 4 days with out rain? You have a pot luck at the Lube and Grill.

Cocktails.

Eats on the welding table.

The "leg" man. He says his secret is the sweat dripping from the pits into the deep fryer.

The legs.

These two have spent so much time together lately that they are now referred to as "The Couple".

Here come the Super Kids!

Kaeden and Ellia climb the big rock while Dad watches.

Calliope and Nova.

Athena.

Joseph, Michelle and Kita keep an eye on the Super Kids.

Fun on the beach.

Hot dogs and veggie dogs cook in the fire pit.

Calliope gives a thumbs up for lunch.

My crew salutes the arrival of the Captain.

Look Ma, no hands! (motor in neutral)

All five super kids in one frame!

Calliope and Gpf went fishing in the pedal boat and Calliope caught her first fish ever, all by herself.

Sis, someday, you too might have super kids of your own.

It's a little out of focus, but this is a garter snake swallowing a mouse.

Now it's time to make my sister jealous as she has no biological grand babies of her own and has to adopt some from a foreign country.

Super Nova on the carousel.

Calliope and Poppa ride the ponies.

Grasshopper and Calliope on the miniature train.

Cooling off at the beach.

Momma and Calliope.

Who could ask for a nicer day?

Kita will tell you that huskies don't like water, but we found this young lady trying to catch the splashes.

To the playground!

Synchronized running.

Tomorrow we will have ALL FIVE Superkids here at the cabin! TOO much fun!

A windy, foggy 10 degree morning a couple of days ago.

We have a friend, Catherine Brown, no relation (but she is smart enough to be one) challenged me to make a couple of her mother's Mennonite recipes that were translated from German. It is not polite to tell a lady's age but, Catherine is closer to the century mark than you or I will ever get. There were a few steps missing and some translating of the translations to be done and some old fashioned measurements to figure out. These are my efforts. The first recipe was for Kringel or curly buns. They didn't say what shape curly was, so I tried a few shapes.

The second recipe was for peppernut or pfeffernusse cookies. I didn't know if the cookies should be crispy or not, so I tried different temperatures. This was only half of the recipe, I got tired of rolling the dough out to pencil thickness. We are going to deliver some examples to Catherine tomorrow to get her critique.

Yesterday we had a welcome home from down under dinner for Jamie Fowler. Another beautiful spread, as usual.

Of all the pictures I took, this was the best one of Jamie, on the far right. It is hard to tell from this pic but Edwin has lost his pony tail.

It was pretty quiet on the lanai.
