Yesterday morning I gave Jack a hand getting a load of sand for his pond and snapped these pics of hummingbirds/




Then I dropped by the Kelly's to check on their progress.


Then I stopped by Rich and Leanne's. Rich has his single holer installed. Privacy is not a priority out here.


Leanne is raking the ground in front of their trailer in preparation for patio stones. It's a lot like using a broom.


Last evening Jose and Brian and their company (senior moment, forgot their names already) dropped by the end of the dock and had a chat. Jose is off this weekend so I'll drop bt there and have a visit on Saturday.

I'm going over and give Razor and Rich a hand (only one, I tweeked a wrist clearing the road) putting in a couple more culverts on Rich's road.

We went for a ride on the Maxie II last evening. The new Little Tomiko land owners, Rich and Berlin came along. Didn't notice any damage to any cottages that we passed.

I don't know what kind of a duck these are. They look similar to a loon, but smaller. Any ideas?

Fog this morning.



This afternoon I'm going to check on the progress of the Kelly's new mansion and then go to Jask's and help him get some sand for his new pond.

We're alive! We had a severe thunder storm blow through last night at supper time. The only damage at my place was a small tree and I lost a piece of facia from my shed. This morning it took me 1.5 hours to get to the Birkby's. Actually, I was pretty lucky, only one fall down of any size, but lots of little stuff. On the way to town there is a place called the Black Forrest where some Germans planted black pines, it's almost all gone. Parts of North Bay were without power. I managed to get my groceries, but I didn't get any gas for the generator or boat. There are only two gas stations open and the line ups were about a kilometer long and I wasn't going to sit in line that long. I'll probably have to borrow some gas for my truck to make it back to town.

I was visited by a loon family this morning with two babies. One was camera shy and dove under. I thought it was a goner, so did the mom, she was calling and calling for it, but it came up about two hundred yards away.


I'm going to town tomorrow morning, yuck.

I caught this humming bird at Jack and Linda's yesterday afternoon. They are a little skittish, the birds, I'll have to work on getting a close up.



I went to Maxie Park last evening (note: you could make a TV show with some of the characters from this trailer park!) and got this sun set from the marina.



Me, Shirley and the two step daughters hopped in my boat and chased the sun set to get this shot in the narrows. There's nothing like quality family time.



I woke up at 5:45 this morning. A thunder storm was just passing by and left an amazing sun rise and rain bow.

30 degree cat. If it's this hot tomorrow I think George will go for a swim.


30 degree dog. Kita digs holes under the deck to cool off.


Luckily we've had some clouds and a breeze to help keep it cool. First frost should be around 80 long days from now.

I saw this loon in the narrows last evening eating an 8 inch small mouth bass. It wouldn't let me get close enough to get a good picture. It would dive with it's supper and come up fifty yards away, still with the fish.



Too, too hot today, 30c right now. They are calling for these temps for the next 4 days. Kita and I are thinking of going to Inuvik with Linda to cool off. That's it, I'm done. Going for a swim and a nap.

Pea soup fog that would almost make a maritimer home sick.


Kita is really shedding now, the fur just comes off when he lays down. I don't bother brushing any more. I take him for a boat ride and let the wind brush him.




I have to send out a thank you to Sharon. Last weekend, while at the beach with Calliope, my legs got tore up by horse flies and nippers. It drove me nuts. After Bite didn't offer any relief. Then I remembered Sharon mentioning that she use to use a different "preparation", normally used on other body parts on her kids when they were little. It works!

While out boating with B.K. and Dorothy we saw Gord and Barb in their boat.


Last evening I was reading the news papers when the phone rang. The conversation went "something" like this.

Mayor, "Blogger Buddy, do you see the sun set? It's awesome!"
Me, "No, ma'am."
Mayor, "Is your camera handy?"
Me, "Yes, Ma'am."
Mayor, "Well, get your butt out there and get some pictures, right NOW!"
Me, "Yes sir, ma'am, sir!"

You can see all those years in the military didn't go to waste, plus I like my left overs. So I boated all over the lake snapping pics. The funny thing was when I left, there was a rabbit in the yard and Kita chased after it. With the fear of the Mayor hanging over me, I didn't wait for Kita. There was one p'ssed of dog waiting on the dock when I got back. I hope your happy with these ma'am, sir.
