Yesterday afternoon we tried to go down the river, one last time. But the ice was too thick in the river. Check Grasshopper's blog for pics of the river, she will get them up some day. I was too busy trying to turn the boat around to take pictures. So we took a tour of the lake.

We dined out last evening at Razor's Lube and Grill, after repairing some beaver cheaters for Ben's pond. There may not be many more sun set pics taken from the boat this year.

Welcome Superkid #5! Athena Margaret Lauren Bishop was born yesterday at 1:20 PM, coming in at 7lbs, 7 oz. Congratulations to Momma Michelle, Dad Kurt, and big brother Kaeden, and big sister Ellia.

All of our snow is gone. The temp right now is +5c. It is supposed to drop over the next couple of days. We've noticed that the solar lights on the dock are coming on earlier every evening. They now come on at 4:50.

So, we've had a little snow for the past few days, but they are calling for plus temps and rain for the next couple of days. Other than that, it's been quiet on The Tomiko, just waiting for the arrival of Superkid #5 which is due any day now.

We went to town yesterday, thanks for staying out of our way. I found that the easiest way to keep Grasshopper moving is to tie a bungee cord to her. I never knew that it could take five minutes to decide what kind of coconut to use in macaroons. We are pretty well stocked up for the slushy season. One more trip to town, just before we get snowed in, should do it. It snowed on the way into town. We woke up to minus four this morning and a little skiff of snow on the ground. Not enough to get too excited about, yet.

The other day I emptied the Tomiko mouse trap (see Grasshopper's blog) and this raven came by to do what ravens do.



Last evening.

I forgot to tell you a funny story on the last blog. While I was trying to get Grasshopper ready to go to town, George was out side. Grasshopper opened the door and George came in with a mouse in his mouth, still very much alive. Well, Grasshopper let out an "EEEEK!" that broke windows for two miles. Normally Grasshopper can spot a grouse deep in the bush, watches them getting harvested and cleaned, and then even cooks them. But a little mouse makes her jump on a chair.

JT, I recommend that GG gets that position. With specs like that, the company will save money on microscopes. He will also satisfy the motor mouth requirement.

Grandpa Frank reminds everybody to set their clocks back tonight and change the batteries in the smoke/co detectors. Now is also a good time to start getting in the habit of cleaning your chimeny on the first of the month.

So, here we are all alone, just me and you, and you and you. Grasshopper and Kathleen have gone to town to drop off Mr. Slate at the airport to go where ever he goes, to do what ever he does. They will spend the day with Louise, learning more craft stuff. I had to have Grasshopper across the lake at O'dark-thirty, in raging seas. This pic was after I got back home.

The Redpolls have shown up at the feeders, eating us out of house and home.

Last night was pretty interesting. First, we heard wolves howling behind Fennell's Bay, maybe down the river. Then we heard a loud "SKREEEE! SKREEE!" I took a million power flash light in the back yard and found an owl up in a yellow birch. I"m not sure what kind it was. By the time I thought of getting a picture, he flew off. It was about fifteen inches tall.


Hey Tim, I notice that you haven't put up pics of your snow. I think that you are just trying to give us snow envy. What?! You put your boat away? I guess that you won't be applying for the ice breaker job.

Hey Sis, everybody needs friends with brain damage to climb ladders for them. Can't hurt what's all ready broke. I use Richie for my climbing needs.

JT, I wonder who will fill that position. Another motor mouth?

That'sit for today, dial up has knocked me off five or six times in the past half hour.

It's been pretty quiet on The Little Tomiko lately. Last evening we went to the Slate's for a pheasant cordon bleu supper. Yummy! And left overs too!! Kathleen can sure cook. You'll have to check Grasshopper's site for pics, I left the big shooter at home.

Sunday and Monday were awesome fall days. It was cloudy for part of the day yesterday, but cleared for sun set time.

Last night the clouds moved back in, but the moon peeked out a few times with an aura.

Not much going on lately. We've been picking at the wood pile when the weather permits. I went down the lake yesterday for a service call. I hope the bubble gum and duct tape holds up for a while.

JT, I'm glad that I can still keep you guys entertained. Of course, after DW (the one still inhaling)left, there is only one guy (target?) to pick on.

Where and who is in Hammer town? Initials will do. Sometimers you know.

Yeah, I know I haven't posted for a while. Two reasons, no sun and computer problems. Speaking of computers, I don't recommend buying a computer from any big box stores, especially those named after office tools normally found on desks. Buy from some one that you can reach across the counter and choke. The guys at Savage Data Systems are easy to talk to and bend over backwards to help. Only time will tell if they got all the bugs.

Tuesday morning, the only day for the past two weeks that we had decent sun.

Wednesday evening we went to the Fowler's for a welcome home dinner for Jamie and Rachel. Left to right, Ed, single guy Jamie, Rachel, TT, June (who I missed the last time, but might be picking her nose here, at least I didn't miss you this time!!), Bryan, Jose, Dawson, Grasshopper, and Catherine. Missing is Shalom Sheila, who was baby sitting Rosie.

The visitation for BK will be Thursday, from 7 till 9 at Martin's Funeral Home and the funeral at 11:00 am on Friday.

Our friend, Byron (BK) Fraser passed away this morning. No details of the service, as of yet.

No blogs for the past while cause we've had just a couple of hours of sun light in the past ten days. As you know, I would rather listen to tunes and watch TV, than to entertain you.

As usual, it did clear up a couple of nights. This pic shows the light pollution from North Bay. Gee, Mayor Vic, how about turning off every second light? Your tax payers might thank you too.



Saturday, we had to make an emergency trip to town. Kita has an infection over his right eye and it was swelled shut. He was a pretty sorry sight. He is on antibiotics now and looks a lot better.

At the vet's office we saw Barb G. and Mrs. and Mr. StL. from Nasty Puke.

On the way back from town, we dropped by The Moose less Camp, but I guess everybody was out trying not to get a moose.

Short one today. Weather has been grey, warm and damp the past few days.

Last Thursday we took Linda up to the Temagami look out. For pics, check Grasshopper's blog, when she gets around to posting. No use seeing the same scenes twice. They have a fire tower that you can climb, but, due to my immense love of the planet earth, I didn't go up.

After Temagami, we went to the Highway Bookshop. I don't know how many books they have, but one room had 200,000.

Later, we stopped in Latchford to see the world's smallest covered bridge. (A lack of ambition? Or a cute joke?)

Last evening we went to the Fowler's for Thanksgiving dinner, turkey, lamb, and all the trimmings. OK, here's where the sometimers sometimes has a problem. Those at the dinner were, Jose, Ed, me, Grasshopper, Brian, (that's the easy part), Mary, Nickie and Veronica(????) How did I do?



Due to the lack of rain the past month, the lake is at the lowest level this year. We checked out the beaver dam and it is ok. This pic is birch trees along the river.

Speaking of winter, fall temps haven't started yet. We've been in the mid twenties the past couple of weeks.

Yes J-man, I've heard of blue walleye, and even seen one at taxidermy class, although the biologist say that they are only a colour variation of the regular walleye, not a separate species.
