Not much happening. The ice last Sunday. We have had a few nights down to a comfortable -10, which is keeping the ice around. I tried to tape the noise that the ice makes as it slowly dies, but it didn't come across on the camera. It snaps, whines, cries and hisses as it expires.

My old friend Dennis, a weather observer, called this type of cloud a BFO. Big fluffy one.

On Tuesday you could still see the ice road.

Rain over night. There is open water at Bill's point, in the narrows and Fennel's Bay.

You can just make out sled tracks around the point into Wolf's Bay.

And towards the Don Fraser Bypass.

The boat is all ready to go.

Not quite yet.

 Happy Birthday Melinda!

So, when we saw the 800 lb moose jogging on the lake on Tuesday, we were pretty sure the ice would hold up for Grasshopper. And me and a sleigh. So I walked Grasshopper across the lake and she went to town with Mrs. Slate to get some supplies that we needed 'cause of global warming coming  on so fast.

The ice was still 10 to 12 inches thick. The only problem was that the ice was pulling away from shore.

This is all that was left of our snow ramp, luckily enough to get out to the "good" ice.

An "air hole".

Crack right across our ice road.

This is a view of what's around the point to our right that you don't normally see. We call it Yammie Bay where I sank the old Yamaha sled.

'ome is where the 'eart is.

Wolf's Bay.

A view thru the narrows to the round end of the lake.

Fennel's Bay.

To the pointy end of the lake.

Here comes the supplies.

Grasshopper took this pic at the river.

Input side of the culvert. This is the culvert that you have seen me cleaning out beaver dams.

Output side.

Today's funny.

Back again. Just taking a break from bucking up the fire wood in +20C.

Fog this morning.

Then, out of the fog walks a moose.

This shows how far away it was.

When it heard the Kelly Kennels, it boogied back towards the narrows.

This is a P.S. to yesterday's global warming post. We have already had our first thunder and lightening storm and our first electronic fatalities on the lake.  Jose lost a generator control board, sat TV receiver and a telephone surge protector. Here, we lost a surge protector, too.

Global warming, it's for real!

It's been too busy with the changing seasons. Thanks to Stephen and his fat cat 1%'ers of the tar sands and global warming, August now starts on March 15.

Girl.

Boy.

Boy.

Big Luke and his side kick Bone Head were here for March break. They managed to get in some sloppy sleddin'. Here they are leaving after happy hour and supper.

There they go.

Warp speed.

Here they go after the next happy hour.

They love their warp speed.

Checking the ice. There's a hole this big.

Trying to get the wood in while we still have some snow.

The first red wing black bird of the summer.

On Thursday we celebrated Damn Jose's birthday. Oops, there's that darn auto-correct again. That should be Dame Jose. I can't say how old she is because there is a weight class thing. Attending were DLR, DLR's wife Pat (there really is one!), Juniper, Mary, hiding behind J , Jose, Bryan, Matt, TT hiding behind Gord, Grasshopper and me.

There goes Grasshopper to visit with Louise at Bedrock. The ice is still safe. Really it is.

See?

What's missing from this picture.

Our beach.

An early morning visitor to the feeder.

If you are really determined, you can still find enough snow for sledding.

I know. I'm always telling you to connect with your inner snow man. So this year I'm just going to try and connect with my inner summer sand man.

Ahh, now that's relaxin'!

The A frame looks lonely with out snow.

There still looks like lots of snow on the dark side of the lake.

Today's not so funny. Global warming sucks. Do your bit to help. There won't even be any maple syrup this year because of the early summer. Hang in there Buddy, some of us are trying to help you out.
